Jericho

Chris Jericho in 2001 as the first man to ever hold the WWF and WCW Championships simultaneously.

Chris Jericho is the most talented man to enter your living rooms via a television screen.

(If you want to know about Chris Jericho's time before he was in ECW, go buy his book, A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex - link goes to Amazon.com - Or write about it yourself.)

In 1996, "Lionheart" Chris Jericho entered ECW. On June 22, 1996, Jericho won the ECW Television Championship. Coincidentally, this was the day Psycho Andy and family moved from Boston, Massachusetts to Scottsdale, Arizona. He lost the belt to Shane Douglas on July 13, three days before Andy's birthday. Coincidences!

In August of that year, Jericho appeared on WCW TV. The following June, almost exactly one year after winning the ECW TV championship, Jericho defeated Juventud Guerrera for the Cruiserweight Championship from Syxx. He won it again in August, this time defeating Alex Wright.

In 1997, Jericho turned heel, and began feuding with Dean Malenko. This was Psycho Andy's first exposure to "Corazon de Leon." As "Stinko" Malenko was calling himself the Man of 1,000 Holds, Jericho insisted that he was a better wrestler than "Dean-o Machine-o," and proclaimed that he was, in fact, the Man of 1,004 holds. The two feuded throughout the remainder of 1997 and the first half of 1998. During this time, Jericho introduced the head of Jericho Personal Security, a fat, balding man named Ralphus.

August 10, 1998, Jericho defeated Stevie Ray for the WCW Television Championship, as Stevie Ray was substituting for his brother, the injured Booker T. As the TV Champion, Jericho began calling out Bill Goldberg, the then-WCW Champion, and began beating up a little person Goldberg-lookalike.

In early 1999, Lionheart wrestled Perry Saturn in a "Loser wears a dress" match. Jericho won the match, but Saturn continued to wear the dress for months.

In July of 1999, Chris Jericho joined the World Wrestling Federation, appearing at the conclusion of the Millenium Clock's countdown. Jericho informed us that he was our party host, our paragon of virtue, and the most charismatic showman to ever enter our living rooms via a television screen. Also, the "Y2J" problem. And then The Rock made fun of him, because The Rock is an asshole.

Jericho entered a feud with Chyna over the Intercontinental Championship, winning the title from her at Armageddon 1999. In a rematch for the title, Jericho and Chyna pinned each other simultaneously, with two separate referees counting each competitor's shoulders down. It was determined that the two were now co-holders of the Intercontinental Championship, until Jericho decidedly defeated Chyna once and for all at the 2000 Royal Rumble. Jericho lost the belt to Kurt Angle at No Way Out.

At Wrestlemania 2000, Y2J competed in a triple-threat match with Angle and Chris Benoit, where the person who got the first pinfall would win the European Championship, and the winner of the second victory would win the Intercontinental Championship. Jericho scored a pinfall over Benoit with the Lionsault, but was pinned by Benoit for the IC belt. Unfortunately, Jericho lost the Euro belt to Eddie Guerrero the next night on Raw, due to Chyna's interference.

On April 17, 2000, Jericho did not beat Triple H for the WWF Championship. Earl Hebner didn't make a fast count, and the McMahon-Helmsley Facgime did not reverse the decision. So, instead, he went and beat Chris Benoit on May 4 for the Intercontinental Championship. Then he called Stephanie McMahon a Dirty, Disgusting, Brutal, Bottom-Feeding, Trashbag Ho for the rest of the year, and get beat up by Triple H for his troubles.

At the 2001 Royal Rumble, Jericho won the Intercontinental Championship for a fourth time, by defeating Chris Benoit in a ladder match. The title was successfully defended against William Regal at Wrestlemania X-Seven, but lost to Triple H just four days later, on Smackdown!.

Jericho and Benoit teamed up to win a Tag Team Turmoil match at Judgment Day, giving them the opportunity to wrestle against the Two-man Power Trip on Raw, the next night, for the World Tag Team Championship. During the match, Triple H tore his left quadriceps muscle. Chris and Chris won the match, and successfully defended the titles at TLC III on the following Smackdown!, where Benoit sustained a year-long neck injury. Despite being carried out on a stretcher during the match, Benoit returned to finish the bout. The duo lost the tag team titles to the Dudley Boyz a couple of weeks later.

Over the summer of 2001, Jericho defended the World Wrestling Federation during the WCW Invasion. Jericho defeated Rob Van Dam in a #1 Contendership match to face the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy. It was at this Pay-Per-View event that Jericho defeated The Rock to win his first World title, the WCW Championship, utilizing his new finishing maneuver, The Breakdown. For a short time, Y2J and The People's Champ held the World Tag Team Championship, but quickly lost them. In November, The Rock defeated Jericho on Raw to once again win the WCW Title, but at Vengeance 2001, Jericho defeated both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WCW and WWF Championships, becoming the first-ever WWF Undisputed Champion. Jericho defended the title against The Rock at the Royal Rumble, and against Stone Cold Steve Austin at No Way Out, before losing the belts to Triple H at Wrestlemania X8.

Later in 2002, Jericho defeated Rob Van Dam on Raw for his fifth Intercontinental Championship, which he lost to Kane two weeks later. A month later, Jericho teamed up with Christian to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship for a third time. They lost the titles to Booker T and Goldust at Armageddon, in a four-way match also involving The Dudley Boyz, and William Regal & Lance Storm.

In early 2003, Jericho won a match to determine his entry point in the Royal Rumble. He chose #2, so that he could face Shawn Michaels, claiming that if Michaels could win the 1995 Royal Rumble as one of the first entrants, so could he. Michaels was #1, and Jericho quickly eliminated The Heartbreak Kid. This built up to a match at Wrestlemania XIX between Y2J and HBK, which was one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of all time. Michaels defeatead Jericho with a roll-up, so Jericho kicked Shawn in the junk.

What did YOU accomplish? Nothing, because you're all a bunch of sycophants and hypocrites.
