Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man" was a modern animated sitcom that aired on the USA Network almost every Saturday night from 1994 to 1997, featuring George Alexander as the voice of Duckman. "Duckman" followed The Simpsons, but it preceded South Park, Family Guy and other irreverent cartoons intended for mature audiences. Like The Simpsons, Duckman encountered satirical observations on a wide range of current topics. The main characters of the show were Eric Duckman (an unsuccessful private detective) and Cornfed Pig (his overly qualified assistant). Additionally, Duckman lived "with the twin sister of his dead wife, three sons in two bodies, and a comotose mother-in-law who has got so much gas that she's a fire hazard."
While "Duckman" had a successful initial run, the first 13 episodes were played on rotation every week from June 1994 until March 1995, which made viewers lose interest, and the next three seasons did not garner comparable ratings despite the show featuring high-profile guest voices. The entire series is now available on DVD as the first two seasons (22 episodes) were released on September 16, 2008, and the final two seasons (48 episodes) were released on January 6, 2009.
