Eric Bischoff -- (born May 27, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan) is best known to wrestling fans as the President of World Championship Wrestling from 1994 through 1999, and he was one of the key players in starting the Monday Night Wars. Since November 2009, he has worked for Total Nonstop Action attempting to launch Impact Wrestling as viable competition towards WWE. Since mid-1994, he has been one of Hulk Hogan's best friends and (not surprisingly) biggest fans.
Despite his previous agenda to put the World Wrestling Federation out of business, Eric Bischoff actually worked as the RAW General Manager from July 2002 through November 2005, proving a lot of cynics wrong for his professionalism backstage. One of the most famous RAW moments was his hugging Vince McMahon on July 15, 2002, the night he was introduced as the new general manager.
Although his reputation amongst wrestling fans at large is widely negative, Eric Bischoff is highly regarded amongst most board members for his positive contributions to wrestling, as well as his amazing on-screen presence. Sadly, Bischoff remains one of the most under-rated influences on modern-day sports entertainment.
