"Family Guy" is a modern animated television sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series debuted on January 31, 1999, immediately following that year's Super Bowl, and it earned modest ratings but a strong following. Intended for mature audiences, the series parodies American culture (like "The Simpsons" and "South Park") and frequently uses cutaway gags fueled by popular nostalgia and random punch lines. The main characters are Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, his daughter Meg, his son Chris, his infant son Stewie, and his pet dog Brian.
Fox canceled the show after its second season in February 2002, but public outcry made Fox change its mind and give the series its third season, which aired on a highly irregular schedule. Due to poor ratings, it was canceled again. However, strong DVD sales and its popular syndication on basic-cable networks inspired Fox to renew the series again in May 2005 for its fourth season where it has maintained a stable time slot and solid ratings.
Psycho Andy is generally not a fan of this show but admits that it has its moments.
