Maria placed fifth in the first Raw Diva Search and later hired on as a backstage interviewer. Her mic skills were so inept that she perfectly transitioned into the comedic role of a ditz. She started wrestling in 2005 as a "Greek Goddess" (although it is undetermined whether that was a moniker WWE gave her or just what Kay called her), getting a substantial push leading up to her April 2008 cover issue of Playboy magazine.
In November 2007, Maria appeared on five consecutive episodes of the Family Feud with other WWE personalities. She also appeared on an episode of Project Runway in February 2008 and Sunset Tan in August 2008. She also appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice in 2010 with Bret Michaels and Bill Goldberg. Additionally, Maria recorded tracks for her debut album Seven Sins, released on April 13, 2010.On February 26, 2010, Maria learned that she could devote all her time to these side projects when she was officially released (yes, she was fired the day after her birthday). An hour after she learned, she posted the following on Twitter:
"Alright guys let's talk. I did not ask for my release. I was released. I am still going to kick ass in other areas!! I am excited about the future! But I am sad about never getting the Championship. I am sad about not getting the chance to go to Wrestlemania again. Passion is my Motivation! Time to Sing! Time to work for Charity! Time to Dance! Time to be Alive again! Much love to my FANS, my FAMILY, the DIVAS, and my FRIENDS! There is a bright new future when one door closes another opens! Bring on the Doors! Spanks and Kisses."
Meanwhile, WWE.com broke the news that Maria and WWE had parted ways and WWE wished her well in future endeavors. She quickly signed with Mark Cuban to serve as the backstage interviewer for MMA events. It had been speculated that there were mutual interest in her working with TNA but nothing came of it. Since leaving WWE, she has been involved in so many endeavors, it is hard to keep track (or even stay current).
