When Steve Rogers decided he no longer wanted to be Captain America (and instead, donned a black costume, calling himself just "The Captain"), the United States government quickly found a replacement for the Sentinel of Liberty in John Walker. A patriot since birth, Walker was blindly dedicated to his country in ways that Rogers wasn't.
However, when Steve Rogers decided to reclaim his mantle, the government had decided that Walker did such a fantastic job as Captain America, that they awarded him a modified version of Rogers' outfit as The Captain, and re-dubbed their new hero The U.S.Agent.
As the U.S.Agent, Walker has been a member of the West Coast Avengers, their successive team, Force Works, and the New Invaders. During the superhero Civil War, Walker was sent by Tony Stark to Canada. There, he joined Omega Flight, Department H's newest superhero team. But when Stark was taken out of power, the U.S.Agent returned to the United States, and joined Hank Pym's team of Mighty Avengers.
During the Siege of Asgard, Walker was mortally wounded. It is currently unknown if he survived the battle.
