Weird Al's early career look.

"Weird Al" Yankovic -- (born October 23, 1959, as Alfred Matthew Yankovic, in Downey, CA) is a pop culture icon, best known for his parody versions of popular songs. Additionally, Weird Al is a singer-songwriter, music producer, actor, accordionist, and comedian. Since 1979 when his first song started getting airplay, he has sold over 12 million albums and recorded more than 150 original songs (including parodies). His body of work also includes three Grammy Awards, four gold records, and six platinum records in the United States. His first top ten song ("White & Nerdy") was released in 2006, nearly 30 years into his career.

Weird Al has performed over a thousand live shows, including a stop at the Arizona State Fair in October 2007, which Psycho Andy, Capt. Cane, Jimmy Nova, Sean Costello and Dan Zunk attended, and a visit to the Celebrity Theater in August 2010, for which Capt. Cane and Ed The K Motley were able to sit "front row" (except the rotating stage meant that no seat was front row the whole time).

In addition to music, Weird Al Yankovic wrote and starred in UHF in 1989, which unfortunately tanked in the theaters but it reached "cult classic" status thereafter. Additionally, Weird Al Yankovic had The Weird Al Show and "AL TV," featuring hilarious interviews where he clipped statements and segments together from interviews with celebrities as responses to other questions.

Weird Al Yankovic has directed music videos for himself as well as other artists, including Ben Folds Five, Hanson, Black Crowes, and others.

In recognition of his contributions to pop culture (for the crazy), Weird Al Yankovic was the 500th entry into the EnPsychoPedia.
